Team Lead

Danica Despotović

Danica Despotović specializes in the application of machine learning to medical data. She is currently working on improving the speed and ease of sleep apnea diagnosis at the Paris-based startup Apneal. Danica completed her undergraduate studies in 2016 and her master’s degree in 2017 in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Signal Processing at the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad. She earned her Ph.D. in Computational Neuroscience from Sorbonne University in Paris in 2022.

Danica believes that the development of any new technology must be accompanied by education, ensuring that nothing, including AI, becomes a daunting challenge. She advocates for educational content in the native language and the translation of new terminology.

Achievements

  • Workshop: “Introduction to Machine Learning for High School Students”: Over 100 students from 20 schools across Serbia participated. With theoretical lectures and practical examples, students developed mini-projects that they presented to an expert panel.
  • AI Guide: A practical guide available at this link.
  • Educational Content for May Month of Mathematics (M3): We prepared a glossary and educational materials, as well as an application for recognizing human and bot responses.
  • Workshops on Generative AI: A series of lectures on large language models and their applications.

Up Next

Our plan for 2024 includes video training for teachers and a third workshop on machine learning for high school students. Join us and become part of the team that is shaping the future of artificial intelligence in Serbia!
